Day 6 – May 30 – Copper Mine Trail

Today we explored the Copper Mine Trail NW of Kamloops.  We traveled from Kamloops to Little Fort stopping at the forest firefighters memorial from a forest fire that went through the area of Barriere in 2003 (The picture below shows 2 carvings that stand there, the one on the left is a firefighter leaning on a tree, and the one on the right is a dragon coming out of the tree).  From Little Fort we continued on to 100 Mile House and Ashcroft, on the way to Ashcroft we stopped at the Chasm.  Chasm is a deep gorge carved out by a stream going through the lava flows 10,000 years ago.  From Ashcroft we continued to Lake Logan and stopped at the Lake Logan visitor center.  We then returned to our campsite in Kamloops.

It was a great day we had 2 short bouts of rain and the temperatures where as low as 55 degrees when we were in the mountains.
